  5. Install the Tracking Code: This is a small snippet of code that you need to add to every page of your website to start collecting data. If you’re using platforms like WordPress, there are plugins to help with this step.


Key Metrics

After you’ve set up Google Analytics, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with some key metrics:

  • Users: The number of people visiting your site. GA4 only counts what they consider to be “active” users.
  • Sessions: A session is a period of activity by a user. Each session resets after 30 minutes of inactivity or when they return to your site later.
